to correspondences. Our aim is to create lasting people connections across cultures through the medium of art.
correspondences is a social enterprise. We run our organisation through a combination of Government support, private donations, artwork sales commissions, ticketed event revenue, hospitality and retail sales revenue, and in-kind goods/services, all of which are invested in creating social benefits for the artists and communities engaged.
Success is measured by:
— artistic development outcomes
— access and participation outcomes
— social inclusion outcomes
— local/regional/international community partnering outcomes.
Events are a fundamental way we attract people into our creative space to engage with our resident artists, their practices and ideas. We get a lot of joy from events and think they deserve the labour of love and care they involve.
With that said, the labour is considerable and generally not reflected in our ticket prices, which we like to keep affordable.
If you enjoy what we do, one simple way you can express this is by showing up regularly. Every guest we welcome into our space for an event—free or ticketed—is enormously valued. And, when you purchase a ticket or a drink or make a donation (at a free event), you’re helping us to generate income that helps us to continue.
To stay informed about events, please join our mailing list via this website or follow us on Instagram. Event bookings can be made via our constantly evolving Ticket Tailor platform.
Purchasing an artwork directly benefits our resident artists and generates a commission for correspondences that can be reinvested back into continuing the work that we do.
Beyond the financial gain needed to continue making and showing art, artwork sales are also vital to support an artist’s ongoing development. In our experience, they often lead to life-long relationships that are cherished by both artist and collector.
We’d love you to pop in and talk with us about a special art purchase.
You can inquire about purchases for a particular resident’s exhibition on show. Or, we invite you to check out our digital catalogue of artworks by resident artists available for sale correspondences Editions.
We offer a diverse range of artworks of varying mediums and value.
Our retail and hospitality functions are a vital part of what we do. You can join us for coffee or sake, purchase a drink at an event or find a special gift for someone you love.
Our curated online gift store focuses on books of fiction, poetry and non-fiction by Australia-based writers and selected craft, glassware, sake and jewellery. If you’re buying for a loved one but can’t decide what to get them, why not grab a gift card?
Please explore our online shop and menu via the links above or pop in and ask us all about it —we’d love to chat.
