to correspondences. Our aim is to create lasting people connections across cultures through the medium of art.
We specialise in creative residencies, exhibitions, events and specialty retail and hospitality experiences.
We focus on creative projects which bring together socially engaged, situational and interdisciplinary practices to connect diverse audiences and artists in ways that stimulate, inspire and question.
Our passion is connecting people from different disciplines, generations and cultural backgrounds to create lasting social connections through the medium of art and conversation.
We work with leading thinkers, makers and writers from Australia and elsewhere – poets, educators, musicians, visual artists, playwrights, scientists, dancers, designers and crafts/tradespeople.
All income generated through correspondences is re-invested in creating social benefits for the creatives and communities engaged.
Success is measured by:
— artistic development outcomes
— access and participation outcomes
— social inclusion outcomes
— local/regional/international community partnering outcomes.

In June 2022, correspondences opened its first permanent multipurpose creative space on beautiful Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country at No.39 Sydney Road in Brunswick.
The space extended the organisation’s focus to include an annual creative residency program and related exhibitions/events alongside an ancillary retail and hospitality service that helps us to get to know our communities while funding our activities.
The creative program includes:
— an annual creative residency program featuring four leading artists from diverse generations, cultures and disciplines for three months at a time;
—site-specific research, making, publishing, exhibitions, live performances, workshops, talks and events presented by the residents and collaborating guest artists and thinkers from Australia and elsewhere – poets, educators, musicians/composers, visual artists, playwrights, scientists, dancers, designers and more;
— special print publications, limited edition artist prints and online publishing (text, image, sound and moving image).
—an annual professional development program for early-career producers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Our services include curatorship, exhibition design, publishing, creative production, events/project management, specialty retail and hospitality and advice on buying art for your home or workplace. Find out more via the button below.

You can join us for a coffee or glass of sake, find a special gift, acquire artwork, borrow a book from our community library, enjoy an open house talk or workshop/class with one of our residents/collaborators or attend a live performance or reading by an Australian musician or writer.
Our evolving event program is accessible online refer here. For more on our retail, hospitality, community library, and art acquisition services, head to our Initiatives menu from the main welcome page.
